What is a sworn translator?
Is a translator who has been officially entitled (in Spain by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to act as a certifying public officer. Sworn translators have the capacity of translating documents of any subject and certifying the accuracy and authenticity of the content of the translation with regard to the original document.
When do I need a sworn translation?
Almost always for legal paperwork required for public authorities such as town halls, regional government, embassies, consulates, administration of justice, universities, etc. This document has to be submitted in any of the country’s official language.
In those cases in which the original document has been issued in a not official language, the administration requires the sworn translation of the document.
